More than any other Central Asian people, the Kyrgyz have clung to their traditional way of life as nomads. Thistour will show you the hospitality of Kyrgyz people when you visit them at yurts where they live;introduce to nomadic way of life-milking mares, cooking food o on a fire… and taste homemade national dishes…             

DAY 1 AIRPORT - BISHKEK (40 km/ 40 min)

Upon arrival at Manas Airport meet with a guide and transfer to Bishkek city.

Standard check-in after 14:00.

Sightseeing tour of Bishkek: Kyrgyz State National University, Youth Alley, Kyrgyz National Grand Philharmonic Hall, Statue of Manas and Manaschi, Victory square, Opera and Ballet Theater, Oak Park, Old Square, Ala-Too Main Square, Open air Art gallery. Overnight in the hotel.

Excursion to Osh Bazaar: fruits, dry fruits and souvenirs sections.

Dinner at local café.

Overnight at hotel.

Meals: no.

Lunch and dinner independently.

 

DAY 2 BISHKEK – CHON KEMIN (150 km, 2.5 h)

After breakfast depart to Chon-Kemin Valley.

On the way, visit Burana Tower, a small nearby Museum and open air Balbals (stone figures).

Lunch in Tokmok.

Upon arrival to Kalmak-Ashuu village – accommodation at Ashu guest house.

In the afternoon, hiking towards the gorge.

Walking excursion around the village and introduce with countryside life and its inhabitants.

Lunch and dinner at the guest house terrace on the second floor that has a superb view to surrounding mountains and village.

Overnight at guesthouse.

Meals: Breakfast at hotel.

DAY 3   CHON KEMIN – KARAKOL (300 km, 5 hrs)

After breakfast leave towards Karakol through the Issyk-Kul Lake’s northern shore.Spend some time in Cholpon-Ata town near the lake and visit open air Petroglyphs Museum.Enjoy the scenic road to Karakol town located at far east of the lake.Upon arrival to Karakol town, check-in to guest house.In the afternoon short city tour: visit beautiful Russian Church made entirely of wood (built without nails), the Dungan Mosque (Dungan’s are minority group of Chinese Muslims living in this region and originally from Western China), the museum of Przewalski, a soviet renowned explorer of Central and East Asia. He contributed significantly to European knowledge of Central Asia and was the first known European to describe the only extant species of wild horse, which is named after him: Przewalski's horse. One-Village – One Product local shop. This shop is run by the association of local women who produce wide range of products from wild berry jams, handy crafts, herbal soaps and other souvenirs, all using products and materials found in Issyk-Kul region.

DAY 4    KARAKOL –JETY OGUZ (40 km, 1.5 hr)

It is possible to visit Sunday animal market (open only on Sundays in early morning) which opens early in the morning.

After breakfast drive to Jeti-Ogyz, a lush valley with some striking red sandstone rock formations including the “Seven Bulls” from which the valley takes its name.

It is also possible to visit a spa built during Soviet time and still in operation. Here you can take a bath. Do not expect anything luxurious, it is still functioning as it did in Soviet times! After some sightseeing proceed to Kok-Jayik (valley of flowers). 

In the afternoon (after lunch at yurt camp) hiking tour to surrounding mountains and water-fall which name is lady’s Plat (40 min).

DAY 5   JETY OGUZ- KOCHKOR (240 km, 4 hr)

After strengthening breakfast at yurt camp, you’ll drive through the south shore of the Issyk-Kul Lake to Kochkor village.  Excursion to Barskoon valley.

At the beginning of the gorge grow rare shrubs and steppe grasses. On both slopes of the canyon rise huge Tien-Shan spruce trees. Above 2800 m grow juniper groves. Along the road running through the gorge of Barskoon there are unusual monuments such as the Soviet truck on the platform and a bust of the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, vacationing on the southern shore of Issyk Kul after his flight into space.

From the gorge you can see the snowy peaks of the surrounding mountains, the highest and most beautiful ones are the Peak of Panfilov Heroes (4610 m) and the Peak of the World Peace Council (4310 m). Barskoon gorge is famous for its cascading waterfalls. The most picturesque have interesting names: Tears of a Bars, Oldman Beard, Splashes of Champagne and Cup of Manas.

Also visit Skazka (Fairy Tale) Canyon.  Lunch-boxes.

The canyon was named due to its bizarre rocky landscape, which for many years has been transformed by wind into fabulous sculptures and formations. Some formations in "Skazka" have been named for their similarity to well-known objects. For example, one set of ridges in the canyon is named "The Chinese Wall" due to its similarity to the Great Wall of China.

DAY 6   KOCHKOR – SONG-KUL LAKE (110 km, 3 hr)

After breakfast drive to Son-Kul Lake.

Son-Kul is a mountain lake in the Central Tien-Shan Range. The beauty of the lake has enraptured both by locals and tourists and is a wonderful place for summer pastures. That’s why you can find here yurts around the lake, accompanied be their herds of yaks, sheep and horses, and if you are lucky, you will glimpse camels, trotting through the hills like long time ago, in the times of Silk Road. Today this lake is a place where it’s possible to stay in yurts, like nomads do, watch Kyrgyz herding their cattle and making national dishes and handcrafts such as felt carpets. It is full of wild edelweiss flowers.

DAY 7   SONG-KUL LAKE

Full day rest in Son-Kol and hiking tour to nearby mountains.

You can visit Kyrgyz mountain nomads and their families and introduce with the true nomadic lifestyle, watch them milking cows and mares, preparing dairy products from the milk and a national Kyrgyz drink Kymyz (fermented mare’s milk), cooking food and taking care of households. Even if they don’t speak your language, they will try to show their hospitality and be nice, invite you into their yurt and offer bread with Kymyz. Overnight at yurt camp.

DAY 8   SONG-KUL – KYZYL OI (310 km, 5-6 hrs)

After breakfast drive to Kyzyl-Oi village. Overnight at a local home stay.

DAY 9   KYZYL OI – BISHKEK (191 km, 3.5 h)

After breakfast transfer to Bishkek through Too-Ashuu mountain highway Pass (3586m). Stop at Suusamyr Valley for tasting Kymyz (fermented mare’s milk).  The road from Bishkek to Suusamyr is absolutely one of the most stunning in the world. It wounds up and down several mountain passes above 3500 meter before opening out to the green pastures of the Suusamyr Valley where shepherds stay with their livestock.

Arrival to Bishkek.

Afternoon free time for resting, shopping and independent exploration of the city.

Overnight at hotel.              

Meals: Breakfast at homestay.

Lunch and dinner independently.

 

DAY 10 BISHKEK - MANAS AIRPORT (40 km/ 40 min)

After breakfast transfer to Manas airport for departure flight to home country (Check-in by 12:00).

   Visa: ** Kyrgyz visa is not required for the passport holders of more than 60 countries to enter Kyrgyzstan.

  • If a place of visit is closed to visitors it will be replaced with an alternative. During major events, accommodation may be changed and replaced with a similar category
  • Accommodation conditions at yurt camp are very traditional, meaning that person will be able to share toilet outsde of the yurt and be able to experience Kyrgyz rural lifestyle firsthand.

  • Staying in yurts and guest houses is in basic condition, room/yurta will be shared with 3-5 pax and washrom/shower facilities located outside of the room.
