TAJIKISTAN 7 DAYS TOUR PROGRAM (beginning from Sariosiyo border ending at Oybek border). This tour includes main highlights of Tajikistan (including main cities and beautiful scenery lakes and mountains). This tour can be combined with Uzbekistan

D-1    UZBEK-TAJIK “SARIOSIYO” BORDER- HISSAR FORTRESS – DUSHANBE (70 km)

In the morning meet the clients at Uzbek-Tajik “Sariosiyo” border and drive to Dushanbe. En route visit  Hissar Fortress. It is a fascinating archaeological complex (fortress, madrasa and ethnographic (18th-19th centuries). Upon arrival in Dushanbe start city tour: visit Museum of National Antiquities. The exhibits in this museum mostly from Tajikistan’s pre-Islamic civilizations (GreekBactrian, Buddhist, Hindu and Zoroastrian),Rudakiy Park, Somoniy Park. Overnight at Hotel.

D-2 DUSHANBE-ISKANDARKUL LAKE (170 km)

Drive to Iskandarkul lake along the Varzob Gorge, across Anzob Pass (3,373m).Iskandarkul lake named after Alexander the Great. It is on of the beautiful mountain lakes in Central Asia, surrounded by peak Chimtarga, Hazormech, Sarima and Gazni. Alexander ‘s Armies passed this way on their way to Conquer the Samarqand, and many stories local legends from the cult of Alexander still cling to this place. Trek in the area, there will be time for short walk to see a 30m. waterfall. Drive to Sarotog. Overnight at cottage.

D-3  ISKANDARKUL LAKE – PENJIKENT (200 km)

Depart from Iskandarkul to Penjikent city. Penjikent was rediscovered in the mid-20th century and is still an active archeological site. Visit the excavation site of the ancient Sogdian city (5th-7th centuries). This is often referred to as the “Pompeii of Central Asia” Excursion in Penjikent museum. Visit the ancient settlement of Sarazm- Research gives grounds for the opinion that the ancient settlement existed here for about one and half millennia from 3,400-2,000 B.C. Numerous houses, religious buildings and places were excavated in Sarazm. A great number of articles made of Copper, bronze, lead, silver and gold, weaponry and ornaments of the 4-2nd millennium B.C. were found. Overnight at guesthouse.

D-4   PENJIKENT – MARGUZOR LAKES (50 km)-ARTUCH BASE CAMP (70 km)

 Drive to Marguzor Lakes.  The Marguzor Lakes – “Seven beauties” –including Nezhigon, Soya, Gushor, Nofin, Khurdak, Marguzor and Hazorchashma. They are situated in the south-west branches of the Zarafshon Range. The difference in altitude between the upper and lower lakes is 692m. All the lakes, except for Hazorchashma Lake, were formed by the creation of dams. A small trekking on lakes. Drive to LLC Mountaineering & Tourism Base “ARTUCH” and accommodation in cottages.

Meals:  Breakfast at guesthouse. Lunch at base camp . Dinner at base camp.

 D-5  ARTUCH BASE CAMP-ISTRAVSHAN (240 km)-KHUJAND (80 km)

 Depart from Mountaineering & Tourism Base “ARTUCH” to Ayni.Drive from Ayni to Istaravshan (Ura-tyube) across Shahristan Pass. (3,370m.) Istaravshan history has shaped the character of the people who live in the city. It’s a fascinating place with some of the oldest and most intact Islamic buildings in Tajikistan, including many mosques, traditional street and several significant madrasa complexes. Excursion in Istaravshan city: the mosque and madrasa Kok-Gumbaz, The mausoleums of Bobo tago and Chor- Gumbaz and the complexes of Sari Mazor and Hazrati Shoh. Drive to Khujand city and accommodation at hotel.

D-6   KHUJAND

 Khujand is situated in the nort of Tajikistan, and is one of its most ancient cities, founded about 2,300 years ago during the time of Alexander the Great. According to Greek historians, in 329 B.C. Alexander the Great founded a fortress on the river Tanais or Yaksart (at present days we call it Syr-Darya river), which formed a natural border for his empire. Visit the fortress by the Syr Darya river and the Khujand ethnographic museum. In the second part of day take a walk around the Panjshanbe Bazar and  Sheikh Muslihiddin Medressah.  Overnight at hotel.

D-7 KHUJAND –UZBEK-TAJIK “OYBEK” BORDER (80 km)

After breakfast  we will take a drive to Kayrakkum city which is located near the Khujand city. It is one of the industrial cities of Tajikistan near the “Kayrakkum sea” (Tajiks also call it as “the Tajik Sea”). Take a look and walk around the sea. In second part of day transfer to Uzbek-Tajik “Oybek” border and see the clients off to Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
